Latin America - Chilean Miners.

On August 5, 2010 a tunnel collapsed in a Chilean mine. Thirty-three miners were trapped in the collapsed mine. Many people feared the worst and thought that the miners wouldn’t be able to survive. On the 17th day that the miners had been trapped, the probe that had been sent down 2,257 feet into the mine had been brought back up with a letter that said “Estamos Bien En El Refugio los 33” which means “All 33 of us are fine in the shelter”. Chiles citizens and president were ecstatic to here this.
Finally on October 13, 2010, 69 days after the tunnel collapsed, the miners were finally rescued one by one in a fifteen minute ride in a steel capsule barely big enough to fit two people in it. Church bells rang out as the first miners were being rescued, citizens of Chile were glued to there TV's proud of their nations accomplishment.
